His Angel by Samantha Cole
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Strong, protective and decisive.. oh my....
This is the second instalment in the Trident Security series and centers this time on Ian Sawyer, the leader and head honcho of the pack. Angelina Beckett is unexpected in many ways. Swearing off women after a bad experience, she gets under his skin and slowly chips away at all the defenses he has built around his heart. Mixing business with pleasure has never been his style and even though he crosses a line he is determined to keep a line in place. As their relationship continues to grow Angel is building something with Ian that has a more fragile foundation than she thought. When danger comes knocking and secrets are revealed, the physical and emotional fallout is devastating.
This story has it all – angst, drama, tears and romance – with a healthy dose of BDSM and kink thrown in for good measure. The writing style continues to be clear and entertaining with an eye for detail and a crisp matter of fact-ness to even the most emotional scene. The members of the security team bring their individual personalities to the forefront with protectiveness, honor and humour vying for top post.
The last third of the book veered totally away from Ian and Angel’s romance to center completely on another sub-plot. Don’t get me wrong, that storyline was interesting, but seemed all of a sudden to take a life of its own.
There are more Trident team members waiting for their turn in the romance pool and I look forward their stories. I hope Carter is next!
