Where truth is hard to come by…
Gabriella Latham has gone through a lot in the last few years. Losing her parents was a serious blow but having Adrian Morningstar in her life had changed things for a better. Or they were for a time. Now she wanted, needed, to get out of this relationship that changed from loving to loveless over the last few months. Gabriella had given up everything, including her financial independence, so leaving was going to be difficult, especially when Adrian was so dead set against it.
As she struggled with her plans, Rafe Matthews seemed to drop in her life and provide her the confidence she needed to make changes. Was he too good to be true?
Becoming emotionally invested in a story and its characters is what separates, for me, a good story from a great one. This book was challenging as the characters – especially Rafe and Adrian – were so very mysterious. With Gabriella stuck in the middle it seems she is being manipulated by two very strong and driven men with hidden agendas. Not knowing who is good and who is bad, or even worse – are they all just a bit of both – makes it hard to embrace or root for any one of them. A tangled web indeed which I hope is unraveled in the follow up story I must read.
