Turn of the Moon by L.P. Dover
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
When strength of mind, body and character are needed…
Bailey Whitehall has always chafed for more personal freedom but loved her family and was always loyal to her pack. When forced to flee, she is running away but, unwittingly, also running towards a future she could never have envisioned.
This genre is a different one for this author and she has pulled it off in with her usual style. The same great writing is brought to the world of magic, shifters and, as always, love. What do you do when your life is turned ass over tea kettle? Choices include curling up in a ball or standing up to fight and Bailey is not one to shy away from a good fight! The characters here are not all black or all white but, humans and shifters alike, are that wonderful mix that makes people so intriguing. Don’t get me wrong, there is danger and evil galore in this story but it offers an opportunity for characters to shine as well.
Bailey is strong and smart and can hold her own whether she needs outwit or physically fight her opponent. At the same time she is caring and loving, with fears and desires we can all relate to. She is a heroine that is not waiting for her prince charming but rather eager to stand beside him and face anything that comes their way.
I was surprised that the sexy scenes seemed a bit… awkward. The first one passed me by completely, I had to flip back a page because I wondered “did it or didn’t it happen”? Even then I wasn’t quite sure. As the story progressed so did the heat factor though as the characters found their stride quite nicely. Wolves growl for many different reasons it turns out!
Great start and I am looking forward to more in this series!
