Diane's Review ~ Redemption River by Lindsay Cross

Redemption River (Men of Mercy #1)Redemption River by Lindsay Cross
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

description

Mercy is a place and a state of mind...

Mercy, Mississippi is in the heart of the Bayou and the deadliest enemies are not always found in the murky waters nearby. Hunter James is part of an elite military unit that is as effective and dangerous as its name – Task Force Scorpion. When a mission goes horribly wrong, the team regroups in the small town that some call home. They are there to find an enemy but also face past mistakes… Evangeline Videl wasn’t prepared to see Hunter again and the feeling was mutual. Misunderstandings between them were going to keep getting in the way… and they may prove deadly.

“Trust me, you couldn’t handle a woman like her if she jumped into your lap…”

There is a lot going on in this military romance as Hunter and Evie reunite to fireworks between them and mayhem and action surrounding them. Hunter is an alpha male with a capital, bold ‘A’ who at the same loves deeply and feels the sting of betrayal even more because of it. Evie has been beaten down in many ways by those she trusted yet keeps fighting on in spite of it. Each believes the other let them down and the consequences for both were still being felt. Trust is hard to come by as the two keep their close friends tight and let no one else in. They can’t help the feelings that are still there. Whether you call it anger or love – the ties are there. Without trust though suspicion and secrets are going to keep them unsettled all the way to the end.

Action, suspense and sexual tension had me on the edge of my seat throughout this emotional roller coaster of a ride. There is a satisfying HEA but the story is far from finished as there is still a deadly plot in play. With at least eight more team members ready to do battle, I know there will be much more action and romance to come. I can’t wait to dive into Ranger and Amy’s story!
