Coup De Grace by Lani Lynn Vale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
The last in a series that I don’t want to see end…
I started this book with mixed feelings. As usual, I was thrilled to be starting another Swat story but knowing it was the last one made it oh so bittersweet.
The final story centers on Michael Perez and Nikki Pena and the myriad of reasons why they shouldn’t and should be together. Mental health is a huge topic of discussion these days and that is a very good thing indeed. Treating that topic with common sense and love couldn’t be a better showcase when it is treated with respect and the reality of what that means for the many people who struggle to stay healthy every day. And wrapping that within a great story is icing on the cake!
Michael keeps himself aloof from most everyone as he silently deals with his struggles. While he is very attracted to Nikki he can think of so many reasons why they could never work. At the same time Nikki is figuring out all the ways that the two of them can make it work. Not only do they have to deal with issues between them there is family drama and deadly strangers to contend with as well.
As usual, there is never a dull moment as love finds a way to triumph in the end. Well, a certain someone’s ‘magic dick’ may have had something to do with it as well…
Funny, loving and action-packed, this finale was everything I hoped it would be.
