Jess's Review ~ Find Me. Remember Me. Keep Me. by Michelle Mankin

Find Me (Finding Me, #1)Find Me by Michelle Mankin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Attempting to reevaluate her life, Annabelle takes her friend's advice and travels to the beautiful St. John. Greeted with a less than uplifting caretaker, she is brought to a beautiful home surrounded by water and tranquility.
Finding out that the caretaker is none other than her best friend's brother, he somewhat defrosts his icy presence and becomes Annabelle's escape.
Battling many years of insecurity and less than stellar marriage, Annabelle spends her time on the island finally doing something for her and trying to figure out what her future will hold. All the while she is wildly attracted to the heavily bearded man who is running from his own life and problems.
This is a short story and one that ends when Annabelle's past comes to find her. This was a sweet story filled with a lot of emotion and sizzling heat but left unfinished. Annabelle is not an overly strong character but tries to build herself up with some help. This is not my favorite kind of book, but left me wanting to know what was going to happen.

Picking up where book one left you, Annabelle is going home with her husband Charles leaving a piece of her heart behind on the island.

Annabelle spends much of this book evaluating her feelings and finding the pressure of her life consume her. She is no longer in love with the father of her children but trying to be strong. Charles is like a tornado, strong willed and a force to be reckoned with. He wants his life back and his words and actions are more than proof he will stop at nothing to get it.

This book felt shorter and read faster than the last. You feel just as lost as Annabelle does, her heart is a mess and feelings are all over the place until she hears, "Hey fancy face." I liked how Annabelle seemed to grow in strength in this book but still you felt that she has not reached her potential. She is still held back by her insecurities and false feelings that have been instilled in her life.

In the finale of Finding Me you see if Annabelle and Johnny can make what started on the island be more than just a fling. Johnny has come back for her but Charles is ever devious and can spin a great tale.

In this book you get to see Annabelle's full potential. She finally finds her voice and her backbone. She will fight for her family and has learned from the best. Johnny is a true poet at heart. He has had a lot to overcome to get to where he is now but with Annabelle's help he is able to breathe again and manage way through the tides. They bring out the best in each other, as long as they can overcome the obstacles that stand in her way.

These stories were sweet and heart warming. The heat that Johnny and Annabelle produce on the page is mesmerizing and filled with lots of feelings and emotions. The reason for the 3.5 is for personal preference. I am usually not a huge fan of this type of romance and like a little more grit. That being said, I did want to keep reading to see what what was going to happen and I became emotionally invested in the outcome.
