Danger, tension, fear and love… this story had it all!
This is the first of a new series for me and I only hope there are many, many more books to come!
From the start, this story had suspense and tension and that feeling never left all the way through. Laurel Hayward was a dancer and never expected to be in the middle of a murder investigation or being a target herself. Jason Dunn was the U.S. Marshall assigned to her safety and after a not so friendly beginning they soon found that they were drawn to each other physically and in all other ways that mattered… Even if it was against all the rules…
“Jason respected the hell out of her. No, fuck. There was a developing connection for him that went beyond simple respect. He liked Laurel. He liked her far more than he was allowed to.”
“Where the hell did this woman come from? She’d eat him alive, and he was sure he’d love every minute of it.”
It seemed that everything was stacked against these two – and I do mean everything. Laurel was thrust out of her element into a dangerous world in a heartbeat yet her strength and resourcefulness – her determination to keep forging ahead – won me over quickly. Jason was a lawman and had the prickliness and stoicism I expected. The glimpses of emotion that soon widened to chasms where Laurel was concerned made their romance not only plausible but absolutely necessary.
Neither wanted to need each other let alone fall in love and that friction translated to snarkiness and a back and forth that made their romance very much an entertaining spectator sport. Despite themselves, though, their chemistry – the emotions between them – could not be denied. And I was happy to share each and every fraught moment. Oh and did I mention Shawn, Jason’s brother? *fans self* I read this in one sitting because stopping at any point was not going to happen!
A mesmerizing roller coaster ride of tension, surprises and sexy romance – a heady mix that made this one of my favourite reads of the year. I can’t wait for more!

Billionaire CEO Shawn Dunn has plenty of sex, power, and money. A woman turning down his advances? Unfathomable. Yet that’s what she does, again and again.

Kara Hayward is supposed to be off limits. Her sister is hiding from the dangerous assassin she escaped from, and it’s best for everyone if Shawn keeps his distance. Certainly as far as Kara is concerned. Shawn’s only after one thing and then he’ll walk away, just like her ex-husband.

But Shawn has larger desires and he’s used to getting what he wants. He doesn’t care if being together is dangerous. He doesn’t believe that threat to him, or his empire, is real. Right up to the night he has everything taken away.
This is the second book in a stand-alone series; the story is complete with no cliffhanger ending.

I don’t know how but this story kicked this series into even higher gear!
I loved the first book and couldn’t wait – could not wait! – for Shawn’s story. He was the sexy supportive brother and did everything he could to help Jason and Laurel find their way. As they are moving forward in their relationship, Shawn can’t help the attraction he has for Laurel’s sister Kara. Even if the hostility she feels for him is anything but subtle…
“She seemed to view him as an opponent and he enjoyed that.”
If you haven’t read the first book in this series, do so RIGHT NOW! This story is built on what happened there and you will want to know all the details going in. Shawn is irresistible – he is wealthy, successful and plays the CEO role to perfection. Nothing is outside of his influence and he wants that to include the beautiful Kara. She has been burned, badly, and is not looking for a new lover, let alone one she can’t even be civil to. When danger comes knocking on their door yet again, their feelings will be tested over and over.
How can I love this story more than the first? Well, it seems this series is just amping up as the tension and danger – as well as the sexy romance – has just gone up a few more notches. Kara and Shawn’s banter is funny and full of sexy overtones.
“You think I can’t afford it?” he said. “Sorry. You probably couldn’t understand that with the silver spoon in my mouth.”
Kara keeps pushing Shawn away but denying himself what he wants – what he finds he needs – is not his style. In an action-packed scene that finds danger, and death, right at their door once again, feelings on both sides are forced to the forefront. Kara, like her sister, is quick and inventive and smart in a way that James Bond is smart as she tries to save herself and get back to the man she now knows is everything…
Characters that are funny, strong and resourceful (like MacGyver-resourceful) make this dangerous, action-packed, yet crammed with emotion, story a “stay up until you finish” kind of read.
Outstanding!

The most dangerous thing on Captain Olivia Wallace’s plane is her Italian employer’s new bodyguard. Nathan is just like all the other predators in the deep bush of South Africa: he’s powerfully intense, strikingly gorgeous, and completely lethal.

But Nathan isn’t who he pretends to be and she’s drawn to the decent man she sees inside, the one he claims doesn’t exist. Even as he risks everything he has to save her.

His actions put them on a collision-course with uncontrolled passion, but also dangerous violence, and its impact threatens to destroy so much more than just their lives.

This book contains mature content. It is a standalone novel with no cliffhanger ending.

Lies, love and danger had me reading this story much too quickly…
This series continues with another roller coaster ride of action, adventure and romance that had me losing yet another (almost) full night of sleep! This time out Olivia Wallace and the mysterious Nathan find themselves not always on the same side as they battle through dangerous events and deadly circumstances. Nathan is looking for redemption while Olivia is looking to simply hide. And in his strong arms is not a bad place to be…
If you haven’t read the previous stories than I would recommend starting at the beginning.  There is much leading up to this time and place for Nathan and you wouldn’t want to miss a minute of it! I enjoyed Nathan’s character a lot – what’s not to like about a tortured soul wrapped in a hard, protective coating? Olivia might have been a bit harder to warm up to but she kept pace with the previous series’ heroines in terms of sheer stubbornness and resourcefulness.
While there wasn’t as much of a guessing game this time out, there were still villains and mayhem in spades, enough to keep things moving at a frenetic pace. There was humour ,violence and emotion all mixed up in a story that worked from start to finish. There were some tense moments and the borderline sarcastic humour here and there made sure I didn’t get bogged down in some of the more serious, and stomach-churning moments…
“Do I need to remind you that I have a gun?” he grumbled. His hollow threat was borderline cute.
“You seem to like that.”
“You seem to know what you’re doing…. Yeah, so keep doing it.”
If this is the end of the series I will be sad but definitely happier for finding a new “must read” author.
