Diane's Review ~ Nico by Sarah Castille

Nico (Ruin & Revenge, #1)Nico by Sarah Castille
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars

Nico and Mia are perfect together…
I don’t know what it is about the mafia romance genre that has me hooked so completely. It could be the stories filled with strong men and women who, whether by choice or accident of birth, live in a world of privilege, honor and sacrifice. Sounds pretty good until you factor in duty, violence and greed and a smattering of betrayal. Thank goodness there is also love and family to balance it out. Well, saying all that, I guess it is easy to see why I love these stories! And Nico and Mia’s story is a perfect example of all that!
“You’re too pretty to kill.”
Strong doesn’t even begin to describe Mia Cordano. She’s a computer nerd who has empowered herself and others to be independent and confident in going after what they want. Getting to this place was hard won and the struggle with her family is not over as they are determined she two the line. Their line. Loyalty and love has her between a rock and hard place and Nico Toscani is a complication she doesn’t want or need…
Nico is angry – to the bone angry - with revenge his primary focus when he deals with any of the Cordanos. With complicated history between their families (and what an understatement that is), he and Mia are going to have to play out the hands they were dealt a long time ago. And that means a violence-laden, blood-soaked path that they may not survive…
Whew, what a roller coaster ride! The love story between Nico and Mia was perfection as they dealt with family issues that should have been soap opera-esque but instead played like the best of dramas. I believed in the uncertainty and fear, the struggles, that they both were going through. And the tension and heat between them was a great balance to the violence and harshness that surrounded them.
A sexy mafia story that has me hooked on this series and eagerly awaiting Luca’s story next!
