Safe Bet by Monica Murphy
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
A quick, easy read. A sweet love story between two people trying to make their way in the world. Wade, newly signed pro football player and close family friend of the Callahan's, is focused on his career and keeping his place on the team. After being cut off by her parents, Sydney lands an amazing job as the Callahan's nanny. One night out with the family and their friend, Wade, and Sydney's picture is splashed all over the tabloids and her reputation, along with the reputations of the Callahan's are being dragged through the mud. A plan is hatched, one week of dating Wade will hopefully draw the focus from the supposed affair between Sydney and Drew.
As the week progresses, so does the relationship between the two. Dating, getting to know each other, I enjoyed being along for the ride. Wade and Sydney were a great fit, it was easy to see their chemistry.
If you're looking for angst and heartache, this isn't the book for you, but if you're looking for something light and endearing, then this is perfect. It was also a delight to see Drew and Fable again. They were such a big part of this book and I loved seeing them with their family. Murphy gave us the story we'd all been asking for and it was lovely.
