Taking Care of the Target by Cindi Madsen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Cassie was at the wrong place at the wrong time. An accident leaves her unable to remember, but the danger doesn't dissipate. Vince has had a thing for Cassie ever since she started working for his families restaurant. While he tries to stay on the legal side of the business, he knows his family ties makes a relationship with her too risky. When his uncle wants her dead, he offers to do it himself. A not so chance meeting brings the two back together and as they grow closer, Vince knows he needs to protect Cassie at all cost. Will it be enough? What will happen if Cassie remembers?
Madsen kept the story moving. It was fast-paced and full of action. The suspense was sprinkled throughout, mixed in nicely with the romance.
I really enjoyed these characters. Vince was such an intriguing character, caught between duty to family and his own morals. Cassie was an incredibly endearing lead. She worked so hard and just wanted to make something out of her life. I loved the progression of their relationship, even though it was partially born from strange circumstances, it was clear they were meant to be. Vince was protective of Cassie and they were so sweet together.
I was fully engaged in this story. I couldn't put the book down. I would definitely read more from Madsen and look forward to doing so.
