To Have and to Hold by Lauren Layne
My rating: 4.5 of 5 stars
This was a great first in the series. In it you had Seth, one of the richest men in the city, who after recently losing his father, took over the running of the family business. He's a great business man, but a very serious micro-manager. When his sister tells him she's getting married to a man he hadn't even met, he's more than a little suspicious. He decides he wants to be involved in all aspects of the wedding planning, which introduces him to Brooke.
Brooke has recently suffered a broken heart and a failed weddding, but she won't let that stop her from planning the perfect wedding for Seth's sister. She wasn't planning to be so drawn to him though. So what starts off as business as usual, quickly turns into so much more.
I honestly really liked both of these main characters. Seth was clearly a guy with a big heart, and he wanted his sister happy but didn't always go about things the right way. He has also had his share of heartache and is still struggling with the loss of his father. Brooke was wonderful in the way she took charge of her life and moved forward with such optimism after her wedding debacle. She was the perfect match for Seth's serious nature.
I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to read the next. I would definitely recommend it to any romance fans who love layered characters, well developed plots, and perfectly steamy scenes.
