Fake Fiancée by Ilsa Madden-Mills
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Young love and happily ever after. Max is the star quarterback in college. It's rumored he's in the running for the Heisman trophy. After some trouble with one of his teammates and his ex girlfriend, he needs to be on the straight and narrow. He can't afford any more scandal.
Sunny has come a long way. Working her way through college and taking care of her grandmother, she doesn't have time for dumb jocks. She's had enough dating them and refuses to date another after her baseball player ex hurts her. Now she sees them all the same. When she goes to confront her neighbor about an accident, she's struck (almost) speechless when he opens the door.
I fell in love quickly with Max and Sunny and their easy banter and growing feelings. When he made his ridiculous proposal, they started hanging out, talking, becoming fast friends. Forced to spend a lot of time together, they get to know each other quite well and grow closer. They have a history Max doesnt remember, it was very brief but life changing. Max won't deny he wants Sunny. He doesn't want to hurt their friendship, but the pull between them is impossible to ignore. What could go wrong pretending to be engaged to improve your image for your football career? It certainly doesn't stop their exes from trying to get them back.
I love finding authors I haven't read before, especially when they produce something amazing. I'm a big fan of these types of books, strangers with instant connections and second chances of sorts. Fate was definitely playing a role for Max and Sunny, bringing them back together after a few years. They were amazing together and I enjoyed the light refreshing read!
