SYNOPSIS:

For three years, ballet teacher Natalie Taggart has lived across the hall from grumpy, reclusive, sexy Greer Wilde. Save for a handful of hellos and the occasional heated glance, they never spoke to each other.
Until the morning Greer lands on her doorstep, bleeding, beaten, and bullet-riddled.
Greer doesn’t need or want her help. He has only one goal: revenge. And nobody—not his brothers, and certainly not his too-hot-for-his-sanity next-door neighbor—is going to get in his way.

Review

☆☆☆☆

I always get worried going into a book, that is part of a series, when I haven't read the others before it, but this one was so easy go follow. I fell in love with this family. So much, that I think I need to back track when I get a chance, and read the others. I know how and where to story started with this family, but I would love to see each individual love story blossom.

It was hard to see the family aspects through Greer for most of the book. Of course I seen a lot of older brother protection. Which solidified how much I would love him. His brothers were and are the most important thing to him. They are his world and that won't change. Everything he does is for them. He would even go as far as selling his soul to the devil, in order to keep them safe and together. Doing anything else never crossed his mind. But little did he know, that it would have such a major affect on him. Through the things he has had to do for his country, his heart was hardened to the point where there seems to be no return. Until his mother 'sends' him an angel, in the form of a feisty little thing in pointes. He doesn't understand how someone like her, has the power to calm his storm, and talk him off the edge. Fighting his demons, including finding the person responsible for the death of his parents, is the last thing he wants to drag her through, but Natalie won't give up.

Natalie has never been good at backing down or taking orders, so when Greer tries to boss her around, she puts up a fight. She sees he is one step from spiraling out of control, and her instincts, for some unknown reason, has her reaching out to help. With the way she finds him after months of him being gone, she can't help but help. There is no turning away from the guy who has made her body spark, from just a pass in the hall and a grumbled 'Hello'. Greer has ways intrigued her, and why, she will soon find out. Their lives are so much more intertwined than even they know. Some times, some truths arena secrets, are better left undiscovered.

There was a time while reading where I honestly didn't think it would go good. The author definitely left me on the edge of my seat. Not only because of Greer's mental state, but also with trying to figure out who was behind it all, and why. I never say THAT coming. With that plot twist, I was completely blindsided. It goes to show, you never really know someone and the darkness they harbor inside.

Natalie is just perfect for Greer. I love when you know someone so well, that they don't even have to speak, and you know what's going through their minds. Natalie is that for Greer. She is his saving grace and his staircase to healing. She's not a miracle worker with healing powers, but she is his stepping stones that will help lead him to his better self. The side of him he has long forgotten and thought was dead. Not only does she mend his brokenness, she gives him back one thing he didn't know he missed and needed, his brothers and their support and understanding.
