Hometown Cowboy by Sara Richardson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Lance Cortez is a bull rider, busy training for the final ride of his career. When his dad goes missing, he employs the help of Jessa. Their fathers were best friends, and since Jessa's dad passed, she's been very close with his father. She's the best bet at finding him since she knows where he usually goes hiking.
Jessa Mae Love is a small town vet. She loves fast and hard, but has the worst luck with men. The last thing she needs is to fall for a smooth talking cowboy and another heartbreak. She just has to remember she's there to help with his father, her friend.
I loved Jessa right from the start. She's open and caring, and will do anything she can to help those in need. She is also a woman who knows what she wants. Lance is not the hearts, flowers, marriage and forever kind of man, and that's what Jessa sees for her future. With the off the charts chemistry between the two, maybe a one night stand wouldn't hurt.
I loved the easy banter between the two, and the strong, fierce way Jessa stood up for herself and what she wanted. There's nothing like a strong woman who doesn't back down and take less than she feels she deserves. We quickly find out that Lance isn't the hardened playboy his reputation would lead everyone to believe. While I loved the story, and the dual pov, I was wanting just a bit more of their story towards the end. Hopefully we get more of them in the next book.
