About Famous by Default:

Jax doesn't want to be famous. Stalked by rabid fans and the paparazzi, he dreams of better days when things were normal. But those days are gone. No one can stay under the radar if you're from the Jaynes family. He doesn't trust anymore.   Sivan doesn't have a family. As a part of the foster care system, all she wants is to finish doing her time and move out and on. She doesn't love anymore.   Jax and Sivan are thrust together on a small-town farm in Mount Vernon, Iowa. They take an immediate dislike of one another, trying at every opportunity to trip each other up. They don't want to acknowledge they might be more similar than they first thought.   Will they stay stuck in their past, hanging on to their lack of trust and love? Or can they change before it's too late?

He smiled and winked before he left.
Why did that make my stomach do all sorts of flip flops? I smoothed my hair back, straightened my shoulders, and stood outside the stall to watch over Bailey and her new foal.
The birth was the coolest thing I’d ever seen. Jax blew me away. Betty was right, A natural.
Relax, Sivan. You can ignore Jax and those stupid feelings.
I wouldn’t let him get to me. I had willpower. So what if he was handsome and somewhat charming? He also wanted to be a vet and was good with animals. Ugh. I wished I could banish that last part from my brain.
A vet.
A comfortable warmth began to start before I could stop it.
No, he’d probably change his mind and join his brothers in the band. With his looks and personality, he’d be certain to be a big hit. He already was according to Regina, so the easy way would be to follow along in his brothers’ footsteps.
A follower? Not him. He was as stubborn as a glob of sticky gum in hair. That guy would not take no for an answer. I’d already seen him in action with Betty. He’d been able to get her to relax her sugar ban, something I never thought would happen. She didn’t know it, but he had her wrapped around his finger. He could sell beef patties to a vegetarian, I was sure.
“Hey.”
I jumped back a foot and rammed my elbow into the wood enclosure. “Ouch. Don’t sneak up on me.”
Jax held both hands up and laughed. “I didn’t. You seemed like you were in a different world. What were you thinking about?”
You. “Nothing.”
He pointed to Bailey and her newborn. “That was spectacular, don’t you think?”
“Yeah.” The best thing I’d ever seen.
“I’ve never felt so, I don’t know…alive.” His eyes danced, and he grinned like he was the happiest person on earth. He took both my shoulders. “Wasn’t that amazing? Don’t you feel awesome?”
“Yes.” My breath left me. “I feel pretty great.”
He stopped suddenly. His gaze intense. “You know what would make this day perfect?”
“Hmm?” My emotions swirled in a pleasant haze.
His hands tightened on my shoulders. He glanced down at my lips.
What was he thinking?
He moved closer, his clean and woodsy body wash filled my senses. A fluttery, nervous sensation hit my stomach.
Danger! Alert!
His eyes had me locked in his gaze. So intense. I couldn’t look away. For the first time, I noticed his piercing green eyes had little flecks of grey and gold. Such beautiful—
Don’t look!
I moved back a foot. He moved forward and reached to touch a lock of my hair. “So soft.”
The big fat wall I’d built started to crumble a bit. I wanted to kiss him. I’d been staring at his lips since he arrived. It wouldn’t hurt, would it? Just one?
He leaned in, his lips just a breath away. “Say yes.”
I closed my eyes for a second.
Mistake.

About M.K. Harkins:

MK has always been a voracious reader. After hitting a dry spell of reading material, she decided to write the kind of book she'd like to read. This resulted in the creation of her debut novel, Intentional. Unintentional was written as a stand-alone book. Breaking Braydon, another stand-alone book, is now available on Amazon. Taking Tiffany (A spin-off) is available now. MK is currently working on a paranormal romance - The Reader. Due out 2016. When she's not writing novels, she likes to spend her free time traveling the world, splashing in mud puddles (She lives in Seattle, what can she say?), watching movies and reading (!)
