Book Blitz ~ Head-Tripped by Nicole Archer

Violinist Effie Murphy moved to New York to pick up the pieces of her life. After six months, she’s still broken, not to mention flat broke. But everything changes one weird night, when she meets Elias, the lead of one of the hottest bands in the world. Except, she doesn’t know that. She also doesn’t know he’s leaving the country soon.

Elias hates life in the spotlight. So when he meets Effie at a random party, he pretends to be an unemployed deadbeat. Why not? He’ll never see her again. Except, he can’t stop thinking about the wild woman who helped him write songs that night.

*Erotic content and adult language. Not for readers under 18.

Head-Tripped is the second book in the Ad Agency Series and can be read as a standalone. However, it’s a more fluid experience to start with Book 1, since many of Road-Tripped’s characters are threaded into this book.

5 Stars

Nicole Archer does it again! Head-Tripped is the second book in the Ad Agency Series and it was every bit as funny and emotional as the first, while maintaining a unique feel all of its own.
This story focuses on Callie's sister, Effie. As we learned in Road-Tripped, she's struggled with addiction in the past and now that she's clean she is trying to steer clear of anything that could possibly derail her progress, including men. Enter, "rock star" (he'd be rolling his eyes with the mention of that title), El Love, or as Effie knows him, Elias Lovaro. He was charming and fun and something Effie never saw coming. Their quick and intense connection was undeniable despite their desire to do just that. They had such an easy chemistry that I really enjoyed. Together they just fit. Both having pasts they are moving on from, will there be too much baggage to overcome? Will their personal history keep them from having any chance of a future?
Archer once again creates incredibly complex, intriguing, and endearing characters. Effie was extremely interesting. Her dedication to her sobriety was admirable. She was both free spirited and calculated, enthusiastic and conflicted, and absolutely brilliant.
Much like Effie, Elias' childhood strongly shaped the person he is today. I found him to be charismatic and driven, albeit a bit conflicted. He had a strong moral compass that was commendable and when put together with Effie's past, created the perfect opportunity for conflict.
I'm so in love with the way Archer tells her stories. You can't help but be drawn into the adventure and experience a rollercoaster of emotions while reading. The angst and drama was woven into the story in a way that never felt overdone, it seemed organic and added to the easy flow of the story. I laughed throughout and even shed a few tears. I am loving this series and can't wait to see what and who comes next!!
