Diane's Review ~ Somebody Like You by Lynnette Austin

Somebody Like You (Maverick Junction, #1)Somebody Like You by Lynnette Austin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

City meets country and they are terrific!

Annie and Cash are sexy and funny in this city meets country pairing that felt good from the start!
Annie is on a mission and the last thing she expected to find in Maverick Junction was Cash. Handsome, sweet, caring – he was unlike any man to cross her path before. Lying to him was the last thing she wanted to do but hiding in plain sight required silence…

“Yes, he was nice to look at… But it was more than that. He was… he was good.”

Annie was wonderful as the not-so-spoiled heiress turned sleuth. She was caring and warm, nothing like one would expect from a woman who never lacked for anything. She had a privileged life but that didn’t make her unlikeable. Or unlovable…

Cash = yummy cowboy and so much more. Family meant everything so his current situation hurt even more. His understanding of love and marriage had been put on its ear so he was not prepared for Annie and how she upended his life once again. She fit and that was a problem…

Secrets will haunt you and it certainly does its job here as the cross-purpose lovers have to face. Their romance was bumpy as they dealt with pre-conceptions and the truths they both held close. I liked these characters who faced things head on with humour and grace and just the right amount of angst.

This is the first outing in Maverick Junction and I look forward to more!
